Olympic Weight Sets FAQ
Do these weights have a warranty?
Yes, your weight plates are covered by a lifetime warranty for defects in material, functionality, workmanship, and defects.
Do Barbell Standard Olympic Weights fit on a 2" or on a 1" bar?
Barbell Standard Olympic weight plates have a 2" center hole, while standard plates have a 1" center hole. We advise not to use our 2" plates with a 1" barbell.
We offer a variety of 2" Barbells and Specialty Bars and that are fully compatible with our Olympic plates.
Why are Barbell Standard weight plates powder-coated?
We powder coat our plates to deliver a durable product that will stand up to the rigors of both home and commercial use. Powder coating can last up to 20 years and does not chip or peel like similar enamel coated plates on the market.
Why is a tolerance guarantee important?
Iron weight plates from other companies can vary by 5% or even 10% from their stated weight. This means you could have a 45 pound weight on each side of the bar that vary by up to nine pounds!
No other company offers free replacements like we do for the rare case that one of your plates is outside of our market-leading 2% tolerance guarantee.
How do I choose the right weight set for my home gym?
We cover this topic in detail in our How to Choose a Weight Set blog, and we'll give you the tldr right here:
Beginners can start with a 90 pound weight set to build a great foundation.
Anyone planning to do the heaviest lifts (like squat and deadlift) can start with the 180 pound set, which will give your 225 pounds of weight with one of our Olympic Barbells.
Experienced lifters will be well suited starting with the 250 pound set, or picking up the 270 pound set and adding 2.5s and 5s as needed.
Our 40 pound weight set is a great option to add more small plates to your home gym, to make changing between exercises and/or bars quicker and a more enjoyable experience.
What type of weight plates should I buy for my home gym?
Iron weight plates are great if you plan to do the core weightlifting exercises like bench press, squats, overhead presses, deadlifts, and similar barbell weightlifting exercises. They'll work for everything you plan to do, as long as you don't plan on dropping them on the floor from a height. If dropping a loaded barbell to the ground is part of your plans (more common for Olympic lifting routines) then you'll want to look for rubber coated or 100% rubber plates, or pair your metal plates with a heavy duty floor cover.
What material is best for weight plates?
Weight plates typically come in one of two types: metal weights and rubber bumper plates. Iron weight plates are more durable and deliver the distinctive sound and feel, while rubber and rubber coated plates are preferred by lifters that want to be able to drop weights from height.
We might be biased, but for us nothing beats the classic look, feel, and sound of Barbell Standard Olympic Iron Weight Plates.
When will my equipment arrive?
All orders placed before 10am ET ship the same day and orders placed after 10AM ET ship the next business day. Once they're shipped it will arrive in 2 days.
For example, if you place an order on Wednesday night, your order will ship on Thursday and arrive by Saturday - order before 10am on Wednesday and it will arrive on Friday.
Why do the weight sets cost less than the individual pairs?
We are able to pass along significant cost savings on our weight plates when they are packaged together into these sets by reducing shipping and handling fees. Lower cost for us equals lower price for you!
- AKAndrew K.Verified BuyerReviewingOlympic Weight PlatesI recommend this productRated 5 out of 5 stars11/7/23Best Deal Around
For the price this is the best deal around. I got 4 pairs of 45’s and then pairs of 25’s 10’s 5’s 2.5’s all delivered for less than $700. Would be at least a few hundred more if ordering from Rogue or Rep. They fit great on my rogue power bar so I’m sure they will fit on any Olympic sized barbell. I did not weigh them because honestly I don’t care enough too. I’m in my 30’s not competing in any competitions just trying to stay strong and keep the beer belly at bay for as long as possible. If you’ve got cash to burn then sure there might be nicer plates out there but if you’re reading this review then you’re probably looking for value so just go ahead and pull the trigger on these.

I decided on the 1500 because of the description I saw on the page. Now that I have it, I understand that it was the best decision I made. It has a very good chrome finish. I really liked the bearings. The weight feels very good and very firm. The loading sleeves are ideal for handling all the weights I have. I am delighted with this barbell.

We had a positive experience with Barbell Standard. I ordered the wrong weight set, emailed them immediately, and they quickly corrected my order. The correct items were sent to my house quickly, despite the change in my order, and my husband has been very happy with them. They were packed effectively to protect them in transit despite the weight, and we have no complaints. They are what we expected!

I love a company that gets it right the first time ( very rare these days in the fitness world). High quality products at the best price when compared to other big name companies. Good to see there are still some companies out there that take pride in their products and actually care about their customer base, would definately recommend to any one looking to purchase fitness equipment.
